2002 Civic Door lock Problem, Pls Help

2002 Civic Door lock Problem, Pls Help
Hi friends,
I recently purchased 2002 civic HX from an old man. He did not tell me that passenger side door does not lock from either inside or from outside of the car.
What can I do? I don't want to go to a dealer and get bankrupt
My friend offer me to help and ask me to open the door panel and check out the problem.. shall I do that? is it safe or not?
Your input will be greatly appreciated.

I would there is not a whole lot to mess up if only knows half of what he is doing. Soulds like the plastic clip was knocked off or broken, baybe someone had to slimjim the door who knows. Is the lock easy to move or real hard like its jammed?

Re: 2002 Civic Door lock Problem, Pls Help I think somebody had tried to open it by putting slimjam throught the door. You are right, But thats just a guess. The lock **** is slightly movable up and down but for mostly jammed.
