Refrigerant w/sealant question

I've seen this product in the auto stores,...refrigerant plus sealant. Besides being a quick, short-term fix,...is there any potential for causing damage to a/c components.

Had a '88 suburban that I put radiator stop leak in and ended up blowing the heater core which was a pain to replace.

Thanks for the advice!

yeah if you do not use the correct oil, the compressor will freeze. the sealant can clog the lines and you will end up with a worthless ac system. those junk in a can are very bad idea unless you have an old beat up ride and you just need some ac for the summer.

Re: Refrigerant w/sealant question

Refrigerant plus sealant is fine in any auto AC system.
The better solution is find the leaking fitting and replace the o-ring. The easiest way to find the leak is to look for an oily/dirty fitting along the AC lines. Also inspect the compressor for oily/dirty spots on the ends of the compressor for gasket failure.

Re: Refrigerant w/sealant question

The ac system is very touchy as gearbox said adding a sealant into the system has the potential to ruin components that arent made to handle that. Namely the compressor and or the dryer. if you have a leak take it to a good ac place they will find it witha dye and blacklight and fix it the right way
