So I install my OEM spoiler last night (pics comming soon [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif[/IMG]) and followed the instructions. Said to disconnect the negative cable to the battery. Do all the installing. Reconnect the battery.

**WARNING**
(I dont know if this has happened to anyone else, but when I disconnect and reconnect the battery, my alarm always goes off. And with your head so close and the hood open, that thing is loud dammit! [IMG]i/expressions/laugh2.gif[/IMG] Just be sure to be ready to disarm your alarm while doing this.)

So everything it put back together. I start my car to put it back into my garage. The engine strained a bit while starting, but I figure it was because it was disconnected so long and it was kinda cold out last night. Pull into my garage and unlock the doors to get out. When I flip the lock/unlock switch, there's the usual noise when all the doors unlock "sshhoook" but then I heard another noise right after "sshhhhhiiiiiiiiik". It sounded like it came from the rear door panels (I have a sedan). I flipped the switch a few more times and every time, I heard the 2nd noise too. Anyone know why this is happening? Does the car just need some time to 'reset' itself after disconnecting the battery?

No, there's an additional noise now. It sounds like a softer version of the regular sound and it happens about half a second after the doors have been locked/unlocked.

its the pulse on the alarm, the duration of the lock signal is long, get reeeeeeeeal close to the door and lock it, it should sound as if it locked, stayed engaged, then let go.

yeah mine does the same its nothing...the lock is holding it for a while and then letting go no problem at all

Are you using an aftermarket alarm?? When you disconnected your battery you may have reset the alarm settings. I know on my Viper 550ESP you can set the lock pulse duration at 0.5seconds or 3.0 second pulse. It may be a 3 second pulse by default and your alarm it sending your actuators a lock/unlock pulse for longer than what is needed. What kind of alarm are you using? If you are using an aftermarket alarm, but it sounds like this is the case.

Using the 'OEM' alarm. And it does seem like everything just reset itself. The alarm is actually like 3 times louder than it originally was [IMG]i/expressions/laugh2.gif[/IMG] which I guess is a good thing. If it's just a timing thing, I guess I'll just get used to it, though I did seem to happen on and off this weekend. My main concern was that I did something to the car overall having the battery disconnected for so long. I guess I did drain the battery somehow though cause when I went to start the car Friday night, it wouldnt start. [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-frown.gif[/IMG] My friend helped me jump it and I took it to AutoZone the next day to check the charge and the guy said everything was good. Said probably just a coincidence that it happened when I was working on the car.

Is there a way to adjust the pulse myself or is it something I should take to the dealer without them hassling me on why it has to be done.

The pulse output for the OEM alarm I don't think is adjsutable since it was specifically deisnged for the civic. If you were using an aftermarket alarm, I would say that would have been the cause, but since thats not the case I really haven't got a clue. I've never dealt with the OEM alarm, just aftermarkets.
