2001 Civic Sedan - w/ Magnaflow Catback.

I have had my exhaust on for 1/2 year now.

Now that it is Summer time... I have noticed when my car idles after warmup.

The exhaust pipes rattle reallly bad. It is hitting the underside of my car..

I took the rear/mid heat shield off my car and it has decreased the banging a little.

Is there another heat shield up front I can take off?

And is taking the heat shield off bad for the car?

Anyone else have this problem?

yeah mine rattles loudly all the time at idle. dont know what to do tho cause i cant see where its touching. theres a bunch of heatshields tho and no they dont really do anything.

Ok I found out... it's my actual muffler is hitting my underbody...

The only solution I can think of is... If I get slightly longer Muffler Hangers.


Has anyone else had this problem???

Or any recommendations on longer muffler hangers I can get a hold of?

usually the shop can bend the hangers you have already to make the exhaust sit lower.

i have that problem it was because my car was too low and i think i bent the piping up more. all i have to do is get longer hangers.

I went looking for gangers at lunch.... Most car parts store don't have any... and if they do it's all OEM which is no help...

If its hitting on the actual bumper just beat on the hangers with a hammer to bend them a little.

im not too sure what your hangers look like, but that happened on my last car, just tok the muffler off, and used a torch to heat up the hangers then bent them how i needed them.

I have the same problem too. It annoying as hell !! Mine is hitting right where the piping bends under the passenger side. Just gonna make some new hangers to see if I can make it sit lower but not too low . . Hopefully that'll solve it !!
