MT fluid added to a CVT by dealer
I have a 2001 HX with a CVT. In the past I used to bring my car to the dealership for routine maintenance. Nowadays I'm trying to learn how to do simple stuff by myself. For tougher things I bring my car to a local place. Basically, no more dealerships for me!
Anyway, my first order of business is to change my own transmission fluid, which seems simple enough. My tranny has been feeling rough lately when I accelerate. Adding a third of a quart of CVT fluid seemed to help somewhat as my levels were low. I checked my records to see when I had the transmission fluid replaced previously. The transmission fluid was replaced at 40,000 and 80,000 miles. My car now has 110,000 miles. When I looked closer at the records, I saw that for the 40,000-mile service, my dealership listed that they used 3 quarts of "08798-9016: Fluid, MT 08200". For the 80,000-mile service they used "08200-9001: Fluid AT 08200".
So my questions are: How big of a deal is it if Honda did put MT fluid in my CVT? Any point in contacting Honda about it, seeing as it happened five years ago? The rumbling in my tranny is a concern, but I'm hoping that a fluid change with CVT fluid will do the trick. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Re: MT fluid added to a CVT by dealer
there are 3 different honda fluids, auto, manual, and cvt. they are all in clearly marked bottles but i guess somehow the techs at honda are just that stupid. yeah you can easily do damage to the trans by using the wrong fluid. using manual fluid in an auto is the worst thing you can do, but using auto fluid in a cvt is not as bad. but still bad enough. cvt is very special and needs the right fluid to work properly. if your car is having trans problems, i would definately call corporate honda and put in a complaint.
for now do several rounds of drain/fill with the cvt fluid and hope for the best.

wow..you really can not be serious. These techs should know what they are putting into the cars before they do it. I could kinda understand if they ****ed up once..but twice? common
