changing a little light ??? help plz

Alright, here we go,... I've checked the DIY and the tech forum for lights, which it says to check the owners manual. I checked and wasnt totally satisfied with the results. My problem being: On the 2K2 Civic head lights, theres like a courtesy light between the blinker and the headlight, I have the bulb to replace it, but my hands are to fat, I think I will have to remove the bumper to replace these, though the manual says go through the wheel well. Any one replaced these and know what to do?? should I remove bumper, or find a chick with teeny tiny hands to do it for me.

Thanks in advance.

according to the manual: turn the wheel as far as you can go to the opposite side of the light you're changing, so there's plenty of room. there's 2 clips inside the wheelwell, and I think you can get away with removing just the top one, but if you really have big hands, just take them both off. peel back the inner wheelwell and it should be pretty easy to get at the parking light. if your hands are REALLY that big, yeah, get someone to do it for you, or if you take off the bumper you can unbolt the entire headlight and you'll have no problem getting that out

Kinda sucks, I went out and looked at it, and it seems that I would have to take the tire off to remove the plastic in the wheel well, take a look at your 2k2 and youll see what I mean, its one big peice of plastic I dont know how anyone could "peel" it back. So, I'm gonna tell this chica I know with ity bity hands to do it tonight, if that fails,........ OFF WITH THE BUMPER!!!! (cant believe I'm going through with this just to put some tiny 4 dollar lights in, that probably no one will ever notice), heh.... hondas!!! Thanks for the help though,

Well your idea to get a chick to do it uhhh well they will be able to but, they will be in pain doing it. I did mine and damn did it hurt. What you are supose to do is take off the clips on the fender wall and then pull back the fender wall. That will be your best bet. You can take off the bumper but for that you will need a friend to catch it otherwise you may scratch it up.

Thanks 2cute, I'm still gonna make her do it first hehe, and if I take the bumper off, ill hold the bumper and make her do all the work!!

Of course I'm joking, If she cant help me, I'll gather a few friends and some beer, cause we all know, nothing is done right without a beer.

As far as going through the wheel well, I'd rather take the bumper off!! sounds like more fun!

( I will also sooth her pain,... if you know what i mean )

LOL just a warning i sliced my hand pretty good and I have tiny hands. Actually they say to take off the clips in the wheel wellls and go that way you will have so much more space to work with taking off the bumper. Either way good luck. As far as soothing her pain well that's a little more than I needed to know. LOL j/k.

When you replaced yours, what color did you go with??

I'm gonna go with super duper whites

i got my hand in there to do the turn signal bulbs but it wasnt easy. you might be able to go in from underneath (not sure never tried it) there is a screw and a clip you can remove and then you can move part of the bumper out of the way and reach up. i really cant remember if there would be anything in the way between there and where the lights are, or if you could even reach from there, its just a thought

yeah, I agree, it's hard to do anything with a Honda, everything's attached to everything else. then again, that's why they're pretty solid cars. personally I had no problem with the bulbs, though, I just had to squeeze a bit. (my arms got quite red, and my fingers hurt, but no biggie!) Ciao.

If you take off your bumper there are 5 clips and 2 screws in the bottom (under the car) one screw in each fender and the four or five on the top (above the upper grill). You could easily get into the passenger lights from under but the driver side has the washer fluid resevoir so it may be a bit harder. I have piaa plazma lights they are a purple like color they looked bad a$$ with my plasma head lights but they burnt out and they had a life time warrenty on them but apparently the company i bought them through went out of business. I found that one out a little to late oh well.

i just went inside the wheelwell also...took a few minutes cause the fit was so tight in there, i was just reaching around until i felt the plug
my hands were scraped up and all, but it wasnt hard.....you dont need to take the whole bumper off
just the sides...thats it

Replacing that bulb is not too bad but if you need to take the bumper off check out the DIY for clearing your headlights, that tells you all about how to take the bumper off with illustrations

Ok, I got the little pain in the a$$ lights in, and to my dissapointment, they dont look any different. should have went with green instead of ultra whites.

I thought about taking pics for a DIY. However, a pic of this girls little tiny hands covered with battle wounds from the tight areas might not be the best illistration, but, I must say, she was damn determined!! Anyway even though she'll never read this, props out to my girl Lopez for the help!!

Thanks to all that offered help, anyone needs advice on this, Get a woman to help you, if not use lotion, tons of lotion!!
