Do my air vents need Viagra?

Hi,

I just got hold of a 2002 civic coupe. It's mostly tip top but the front air vents are driving me mad: I'm talking about the outer dash ones (next to the windows). The thing is they are limp as hell and won't stay up for me or passenger to get hit in the face by their output!....(sorry but the double entendre are coming thick and fast....hehe)

They look like they'll pop out of the dash easy enough (someone let me know if I'm going to snap something trying this or need to be cautious please .

I was thinking that felt or rubber washers on the plastic axles I expect to find in there may be the thing to do. Has anyone had the issue (in their car) and sorted it?

Thanks for any ideas.

I have the same problem with my center vents, no idea how to fix it. As for the side vents, those are easy to take out. Just get something flat and pry it out. Nothing should break.

Re: Do my air vents need Viagra?

all my vents do that. an old fix is to pull them off (they will yank off with alot of force) and put a small drop of silicone on each side. put it back together and let the silicone harden overnight. then rotate the vents to break the bond but the silicone will remain there and the vents will be much harder to move. i still need to try it.

Interesting silicon idea. I have a go with that as I have some in the garage. I'll let you know if it works out or if I have to make up the felt washers.

I have a 2003 Honda civic coupe and my left one started giving me this problem. I took it out easily pops right out and added some silicone grease to were it pivots. I also added a real light bit of silicone caulk BEFORE adding the silicone grease almost made it into like a paste. It's fine now.
