Type R grill install = unwanted gap

So... I gave in to the aftermarket grill trend and bought one of those $30 type r grills off of ebay. Now my factory "radiator cover" (or piece of gray plastic attatched to my stock grill) won't go on the aftermarket grill, which gives me a nice little gap between my grill and my hood . I own a 02 civic ex coupe. Anyone know where I can get one of these bad boys that will fix the gap? Also, I can't get my bumper back on as snug as it was (just a little loose around the right headlight). Is this just a side affect of taking it off? Thanks for all the help in advance!

No it is not a side effect of you taking it off, it just means you did something wrong and most likely didnt snap the bumper into place. I say just give it a firm tap and see if it pops back in.

I believe that the Type r grille leaves a nice gap between the hood and grille. Just search on this site for pictures to see if everyone else has the same thing, if not try a little ingenuity and fix it.

I've heard that the sedan rad cover will go over that grill and it will take away that unwanted gap.

I've heard that too, but I can't find one. Anyone know where to find this part?

Yes the sedans rad cover fits,, not the coupes, you gotta go to the dealer or even a junk yard to find the rad cover

Re: Type R grill install = unwanted gap

the grill was made for a sedan, reason being my radiator cover fit perfectly with the new grill. the fix for coupes is easy, just buy the sedan radiator cover

also yes, there will be some gap between the grill and hood as mentioned. that is normal part of the grill design.

for the cover, you need to get #2 here. when you order it from dealer or www.hondaautomotiveparts.com that you make sure its for sedan.

Thanks gearbox, its ordered and on its way! If I understood you correctly, there will still be a gap, right? Does the radiator cover make it look any better? And how did you keep your emblem on there???
