fluctuating idle
fluctuating idle
so I swapped the old blown up motor out of a 2001 civic LX 1.7L with a stock used 1.7L motor that only has 30,000 miles, I hooked everything up and it runs and drives but the idle flucuates between 1000 and 2000 rpms the needle goes up and down up and down, there is no air intake but just an open throttle body but it seems weird that it would fluctuate that much even though the air intake isnt on, i have an AEM air intake on the way to my house. would an air intake stop the flucuating problem?

Re: fluctuating idle
first of all its not really healthy for the motor to run without filtered air...
second, this shouldn't cause fluctuating idle. If the new intake doesn't fix the problem its time to clean your icv (idle control valve). there should be diy on how to do it on this site or on honda-tech
