newly rebuilt engine[misfires],replaced both o2 sensors but still get o2 sensor codes
yo. well i got codes p0135 and p0141 which = o2 sensor heater circuit malfunction (bank 1 sensor 1 and 2)
the o2 sensors had probably 90k miles on them so i decided to change them out anyways. well after checking the codes again, it turns out the codes haven't gone away and i replaced both o2 sensors. whats the deal?
i just got done rebuilding my entire motor from the oil pan to the head. i did all the work in my garage and the car runs pretty sh!tty lol. at least it runs i guess this is my first try tackling an engine rebuild. i got misfires from cylinders 1 and 2 and my buddies told me i should recheck my piston ring end gap placement for compression and also the oil ring gaps because 2 of my new spark plugs are already burned up after only running for 30 minutes. i am in the process of doing a compression test. my question is what is the surefire way to not mess up the ring placement on the piston? the piston ring compressor i have sort of rotates when i tighten it and i am fearing that it may rotate the rings along with the compressor.
my buddies also said that the oil rings gaps should be placed in front of the motor (toward the oil hole in the rods) but the honda manual never said anything about this. what would be the proper way to installing the rings, seems to me the honda manual isnt specific enough.
my motor was very hot to the touch as well. for example i would usually be able to touch the valve cover with my hand but when i touch it now it burns me. too much oil burning from bad ring installation? i dont know.
any help is appreciated guys. couldnt really find anything in my search for help. THANKS!

Re: newly rebuilt engine[misfires],replaced both o2 sensors but still get o2 sensor c
Well I did some trackin down through honda on both those codes. I even called honda tech line for ya. Only thing we can think of is a loose connection, ground, or ECM failure....
Since you have replaced both sensors it's in between the ecm and sensor....so wiring, connections, grounds, or ecm.............I don't really see how 02 sensors would have anything to do with piston rings....either ya got compression or ya don't.....you done a compression test yet?
Does the engine run well when cold? 02 sensors really only do there job after engine is warmed up & in closed loop.
As for the engine being hot......how's the temp gauge?

^^ sorry for the late reply. and THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!
i would rep but i cant
well i double checked all the o2 sensor wiring and it looked like one of em was grounding out so i fixed it.. havent rechecked the code though.. and i havent done a compression test yet... i gotta study for finals until thursday
. but the car doesnt run well at any point in time lol.. i was thinking "maybe its normal for a 0 mile engine to do this so i just let it sit for 20 minutes but still no result. the car wouldnt idle so i had to let the car stay at 2krpm in order for it to keep running. it runs but its not driveable so yeah lol. the temp gauge was right in the middle of the H and L and it normally sits a little less than half way. i was also told that because it is a brand new motor, valve adjustments should be at its maximum clearance. for example say the exhaust side valves are to be adjusted from .23-.28 i would set it at .28 with very little drag. i set all the valve adjustments in the middle; .25 from the previous example.
i will have more info once im done testing
