Ac problems...
Ac problems...
I have a 2001 Civic LX 5-speed MTX with 210,000 miles. Recently the AC was pumping out no cold air, so I refilled it wil refrigerant R-134a... Before I stat pumping it into the system, the little meter attached to the refrig. refil can shows that I have no refrig. left, but as soon as I press the refill tab on the refrigerant can the PSI instantly jumps into the danger red zone (about 100 PSI). Anyone know what might be causing this? I can't imagine living in 110 degree weather without AC. Thanks for any help

Re: Ac problems...
you need to have the car running with the A/C on when charging... Also there is a good chance you have a leak somewhere so you should find that before refilling the system.
Re: Ac problems...
hmm...well that could actually be several items.....does the compressor come on at all? If not then jump the low freon switch (near drivers coolin fan) if the compressor turns on you definitely know you are out of refrig.
The most common location for D17 freon leak is at the line that bends 90 degrees in front of the drivers cooling fan. I've seen about a dozen that need that line. I believe it's the return line from condensor.

Re: Ac problems...

It's #3 on the image but it looks closer to #21........to the right of the condensor
See that 90 degree bend at the top of the line? Right there. They rub the a/c fan from the factory. Done alot of those! Even done it on my car! I couldn't find that leak either dopes. Something about the way it bends I couldn't get the UV **** to come out of it. I found it w/ an audible freon leak detector...thank you Honda

The line is called the A/C Discharge Line - $24.99 MSRP

Re: Ac problems...
some photos of the damaged line.
this is on a 2001 civic EX 1.6L
took about an hour to change out using the tools in the pic.
instalation was in the reverse order not removal of anything other than the line was required for me
hope this helps
