CEL Problem

Recently during driving my CEL will light up and the car will stalled (on several occasions already). The only way to start the car is to clear the CEL. The problem is how to get the CEL codes as I need to reset the codes before I can start the car. Cannot bring to the dealer to pull the code (unless I tow my car to the dealer) and the OBD readers here are not cheap.

I understand there is a way to pull the codes using the jumper thing but tried searching but cannot seem to find it. Can anyone help as it is driving me nuts with this problem.

Thanks.

As I only drive before/after work and all the shops are closed by then.
I thought of pulling the code when the CEL comes on.
I can only restart my car if I clear the CEL.

Re: CEL Problem

Rent a ODB2 scanner from autozone/baxter type of places and drive around trying to replicate the problem.

Sad to say the place (Singapore - Asia) there isn't any autozone/baxter type of places anywhere! We have to depend on the workshops with the tools (very expensive here!) to read our codes.

Anyway tried the jumper thing (from a K20A forum) and managed to get the CEL code (2-92). After that went to the workshop and the OBD2 scanner showed the same CEL code and also the full DTC code.

Managed to change the parts and now the motor is running fine. Just have to monitor for a week or so if the problem is truly solved.

Thanks.
