Diy: Fuel Door Fix
Diy: Fuel Door Fix
TOOLS NEEDED:
-1/16" thick 1" wide HVAC bandstrap
-10mm ratchet
-Tin Snips
-#2 phillips screwdriver
-standard flathead screwdriver
-Electrical tape
-5/8" drill bit
1/4" drill bit
-Tape measure
-thin point marker
Ok first you need the 10mm, strap, and flat head

pry the tab off and remove the screw

remove the panel

use the 10mm to remove the one bolt

after taking the white plastic part off the housing slide the metal tab out by sliding it foward this is what it looks like when you try to engage the fuel door release... NO GOOD

pull it foward to close the gap

From the 3rd notch to the back of the metal cable crimp is 1"

Now take the band strap and measure out 1" for the spacing, 1/2" to one side, and 3/8" on the other

Bend the strap on the 1" marks like so

Get snips

Cut the strap above the marks

Get your 5/8" drill bit and drill a hole center to the 1/2" mark in the middle of the strap

same for the 1/4" on the other side

What it looks like with holes

Now take snips and cut along lines

now press fit onto cable and plastic [ may need to use pliers ]

Tape off like crazy

Put back in housing in the center tab on the plastic peice

put back together and BAM it opens
