No, belts are not recommend to be changed until 100k-120K but its not a bad idea for you to get it done anyway. You should have went to another shop $600 is rapage.

Its a 90K belt, and $600 isnt too unreasonable. Its almost $200 in parts (at dealer list) and it takes quite a few hours to do.

I recently had this done on my 2004 Civic at Rusty Wallis Honda in Dallas for $450.00 (with a 10% off coupon)
I asked 3 different service techs and they all gave me different prices, so I went with the lowest!
After doing the timing kit for this price, they wanted $200 to change my plugs. LMAO give me a break, I changed them myself in about 5 minutes.

I supplied parts(belt, water pump, antifreeze, ect) and paid my mechanic 250. parts were less than 100 bucks.

parts were 200$ and labor 400$
i got violated by the dealer cause my local mechanic would not do it and the dealer is the only other choice i had
there is not too many decent mechanics around here that work on hondas
it needed done anyway cause the belt was slipping and the car would go off time and run like ****
