check engine light? turbo?
ok well heres the run down. im fixin to buy my first civic and its boosted. the lay out is It's a T3/T4 Garret Turbo, with Blue E-Manage from Greddy, RSX Type S 320cc Injectors, TiAL 38mmWastegate and Blow off Valve.
my question is the check engine light is on and i was told inorder for it to pass emmions i have to hook up a laptop tune the air/fuel ratio down shift around 3000 rpm for atleast three cold starts in order for the ecu to reset it self so it will pass and the light will go off. after that hook back up the laptop and tune the a/f back up and run it as normal. will this work?

Find out what code the ECU is throwing before you disconnect anything, in case there is a problem you don't know about that may be serious. To reset this without a code scanner (they will do this for free at Autozone), disconnect the battery and pull the PCM fuse for about 3 minutes. CEL gone.
As far as detuning the car for emissions, yes this is possible and relatively safe - as long as they don't drive it and go into boost - as I will be doing the same thing for mine.

Thanks man thats what i needed to kno. No they dont drive it or any then here in TN they just plug it up and turn the car off then i think start it again thats it no one will drive it but me. He did tell me to keep it under 3000 rpms so i guess thats when or around when it starts buliding boost. Then the check engine light will go off by its self after 3 or 4 cold starts doin this.

Find out what codes you are throwing. Just bc the cel goes off does not mean you are not throwing codes, and you can still fail inspection. Do they check emissions in in TN or just for CEL?
