timing belt help...
Re: timing belt help...
Instead of ebay I found it cheap to get it from Majestic Honda. But I got hold of my uncle and he has an account with a couple dealerships down in Dallas, the parts will be alot cheaper. thanks guys.

Question:
TDC is set for the crank - lined up the line (on the sprocket) to the arrow (on the block).
But I am unable to turn the cam where the "UP" is up. It is down at this time. I am unable to turn the cam (sprocket). Am I missing something?
DO I really need to remove the spark plugs? The Helms does not say to....?
Thank you for your help.

Dude. Stop. Did you pull the head? The reason you can't turn the cam is because the valves are hitting the pistons. You to pull the head off again, put th cam to TDC, then put the crank to TDC. Pull the timing covers and crank pulley back off and straighten out the mess you just made of the timing belt.
How did you end up in this situation??

I did not pull the head? I followed the Helms and then it came to a time to TDC the cam and crank. the crank is at TDC but the cam is at TDC for 4. The "UP" is down.
Do I need to pull the head for that?

Re: timing belt help...
you should have set the engine to tdc with the old timing belt still on. Then you just slip the old one off put the new one on and rotate the engine a couple times to make sure the timing marks still line up.

Re: timing belt help...
You need to rotate the crank back where it was, at least get it close so you don’t have piston valve contact then line up the timing marks. You may have already bent a valve if you tried turning it over any harder then normal.
Re: timing belt help...
ill give you some advice...i just did my timing belt on my d16...but they are all the same anyway...do the folowing...take the cyl1 and cyl2 sparkplugs out...and see if you can turn your crank so that both pistons are in the middle of the cylinder(mid travel)...how do i do this you ask...well simple...take a rod or wire...something thin enough that you can stick in the hole where the sparkplug was...then when you turn the crank youll see the rod..or wire go up or down...figure that a valve is already hitting one of your piston heads so you dont want to force the crank to turn one way or the other...once you have both rods or wires to the same hight..this means that all 4 pistons are in the middle of the cylinders...now you can take your cam and adjust it so it is on the tdc position...after that just put the crank on the tdc...and bang...you now have piston number one deady to fire...slap the timing belt on and pray to god that you havent bent a valve...
thank me latter

Oh sorry. I was just stressed out and my two sons are sick and wife bugging me.
I just put the old belt back on and TDC #1. Took of the old belt and put the new one back on and that was it. Finished putting everything together and started it up and adjusted the other two belts has needed.
I will be cleaning the TB tomorrow.
