Rep Power: 0 help.....i !@#$% my car up
a rock river danced all over the bottom of my civic.
originally i took it in thinking the alignment was off from this rock, because i was getting a little bit of a wobble.
i got to look at it on a lift today. it bent wut the mechanic called the k frame a good 6 inches. which i was told would mess up my alignment, the same rock scratched its way down the bottom of the frame and nailed the left trailing armor taking a notch out of it.
i think i got the trailing arm under control, but wuts this k frame? is it called something else because i cant even look up the price for it. he mentioned replacing that piece would require lifting the engine.
help me out guys, if its over 1000, im probably just gonna claim it on the insurance but id rather not. i know i dont have all the tools to do the work myself. but id like to know a little more before i start having it worked on.
thanks ahead for any info. and yes i deserve to be flamed.

i didnt have my cam at the time, im gonna have it on the lift again thursday for a different estimate. ill take some them.
it looks like it runs parallel to the radiator, and looks like part of the engine mounts to it.

Yeah foos, I was gonna say subfram on that one...People on her sell em when they do their swaps I think, and theres always yards too. Look for a car thats just dead with no damage or hit from behind

if its the subframe thats an EASY job to replace... just undo the front and rear engine mounts, take out the lower balljoint bolts and remove the 6 other bolts holding the subframe on. no need to support the engine or anything

To me that looks like a lower RADIATOR Support? or technically speaking its part of the front bulkhead. I dont feel u need to take the engine out for that? But i never did it so cant say for sure

if the engine mounts to it, it is the front subframe. not the rad support

Post some Pics and we can help but WTF is a K frame. I am an automotive tech and never heard of that crap. Dont take your car to unrelaiable aftermarket facilites that dont know what the F*** they are doing. GOOD LUCK!

well after a few different shops anywheres from one guy saying it was just the rotors. he had the thing on the lift, and didnt see anything wrong with it but "warped rotors". i just laughed and drove to the shop across the street.
i took it to a few collision shops and got estimates from around 1200 to 1800.
soooooo this one is going on the insurance. and somehow by the insurance powers that be they knocked my 250 dollar deductible to 50 bucks and the insurance company backs the work for the life of the car. shitty lesson, but it coulda been worse, i still feel like a tard lol
thanks for all your input everyone on this thread, and even tho im not able to do the work myself this time, i did learn a lot about my honda.
