OK so you know when you put a manual trans civic or any car into reverse but sometimes its not all the way in reverse? and you go to back up and it makes that uncatching slipping noise... well when i am in first accelerating normally (not WOT) it makes it, also in 2nd; then it stops in 3rd - 5th. But when I downshift, it makes the noise from any gear. After about 25 minutes its intermittent, i check my trans oil and its fine, i havent changed it yet though and im running 39995 miles on the car so far. I havent modded the trans or touched it cept for the aem cai bracket for the clutch cable. What do you think it is? Been happening for about a week now and i cant figure it out and i dont want to take it to honda or a service shop yet til i can find out what it is.

dude, if its still under warranty, take it in, especially if it happens regularly, i just had to have my whole trans replaced becuase of a similar problem, sounds like synchros, maybe throw out bearing, everything was bad on mine, so id get it checked out if i were u

When u shift into first, keep the pressure on the gear shift and see if it quits the noise. if it does, one or two things i can think off, worn synchros or just adjustment in the cable or linkage or some bushing thats worn.

question though, does it only do it during shifting or all the time once u shifted? & when it makes that noise, is the car moving normally or u feel it grinding to move....if the car is moving normally just with that noise....i would say some bearin is going bad or gone bad, and the other....synchros are not engaged.

I know bad CV joints also make that noise....but can not tell..if thats it is for sure.

when i engage the clutch in 1st gear i hear the fluttering noise all the way up to 5k then in 2nd i hear it up to 4k and then its gone. if i disengage the clutch, theres no sound, it doesnt struggle.

I took it to honda to be diagnostic"ized" and they said that i will need a new transmission, but then said "one of the mechanics believes there is a modification with the transmission" i just said yeah a short throw shifter, and he said oh ok just feels better. Anyone know how much a New civic transmission runs? i have a 1000 spending limit, and if its more than that its goin to another honda dealer for an Si. The car moves, just annoying
