Air fuel ratio sensor or oxygen sensor?

Please don't make me run in more circles!!!!

Ok, so I need to replace my 'primary o2 sensor', or at least that's what I'm told. Honda says they'll do it for $500. I say 'screw that'.

I replace primary (before cat.) sensor with Walker OEM part 25024473. I should be good I thought. still throwin codes P0134 and P1164. I do more research and find that there is an air fuel ratio sensor that is 4X the price that maybe is what I need. Is it? What do I need? What's the difference between the two?

here are the two parts:
a/f sensor.....

o2 sensor.....

PLEASE HELP ME!

Re: Air fuel ratio sensor or oxygen sensor?

the Air fuel sensor is a wideband. If you have an HX, or an 04-05, you need the expensive one.

Lightbulb Re: Air fuel ratio sensor or oxygen sensor?

It's a 2002. I think I finally figured it out after lots of research.
Nobody seems to know anything about the HX. Apparently the oxygen sensor fits perfectly into the plug that the air/fule ratio sensor goes.

Ordered the 'expensive one', so I should be on my way when it gets here. DAMN!!! If my light's still on after that, you'll be hearing from me again very soon.

Thanks for the help.

Re: Air fuel ratio sensor or oxygen sensor?

Your car is an hx, your primary sensor is an air fuel sensor, not a standard oxygen sensor. You do, in fact, need the "more expensive" sensor. But...you can pick one up from majestic honda for an 04-05 (same sensor) for barely over $100. I just bought one from them.
