I have a rattling tailpipe/Muffler entrance. It only rattles some of the time - something I would attribute to backpressure (?). It rattles usually after start up, and around gearshifts. Eventually (hopefully soon), I want to get a new exhaust tip, and was wondering if the usually come with a new muffler. Any good recommendations and prices would be welcome, as well as links. I am looking at a 2". In the end, would it be cheaper to get a new tie-down, or live with until this summer when I could replace it?

Check your sway bar and heat shield. I had a problem with my magnaflow hitting my OEM Sway Bar. Albeit, this was after I hit a curb in the rain. But check those 2 out. I know my bumper plays a part in it too. It sags at the bottom and bounces off of the muffler.

You might also check the muffler hanger. If you have an aftermarket exhaust/muffler, the hanger on the muffler might be just touching the grommet hanger welded to the car. It took my son and me almost an hour to figure out where his was rattling. Wasn't much rubbing, but just enough that the vibrations were magnified throughout the car. Wrapped some electrical tape around the hanger nub. His heat shield also started rattling after he installed his new exhaust. Couldn't get it tightend so he removed it. Rattles are now gone.
