i posted this on the main page as well, just wanted more hits so i posted in 7th gen also.



ok. raced a dodge charger with the hemi just a little while ago... good race, i had 1/2 car on him until 4th gear he pulled a car on me... all good. i slow down to bust a U turn and my car stalls out, i try to start it but it wouldnt start. i popped the hood and my mani is hot cherry red, like it was about to melt or something. this has NEVER happened before. i wait about 30 seconds and the car started up with a fight. i roll back home and i hear a HUGE knocking/ticking noise that goes along with the engine revs. i listened from under the hood, it seems like the knocking is coming from inside the motor. i can feel the vibration as i rev the car up and feel the valve cover with my hand. i turned the car off then started it up again and it started up with the same noise.

before the charger i ran up against my buddies g35. as i staged up and started to preload my tranny i started hearing a very very light knocking noise. barely as loud as it is now. IS MY MOTOR BLOWN? if you guys have anything to what it can be let me know. im not tuned and i havent been tuned for the longest time. i dont wanna hear all that well your not tuned thats why your motor is blown blah blah. if you know whats wrong post up! THANKS IN ADVANCED... I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP ON THIS GUYS.

yeah the title says blown motor. but is my motor really blown?

well, I dont know the exact definition of a blown motor, but I can definitely say youre motor is f'd. You most likely bent your rods and pistons if not broke them. That knocking sound during engine revs, thats your rods hitting the walls on the inside of the engine...You should not turn your engine on. Take it to a mechanic because there is nothing else you can do.

i need the car for work and school. you think the motor will last until i get a new one in a week you think?

If you don't want to be stuck on the side of the road, I wouldn't drive it. It sounds as though you have a broken rod.

i did that too you ran it low on oil probably and bent a rod or threw the main berrings lol i just swaped up to a d17a2 and it solve the problem. it wasprobably cheaper.

You didnt feel or hear anything strange while racing that charger?

Check your oil levels and everything.. it should give you a pretty good guess on whats going on.

its blown for sure. if you dont see any smoke coming from the motor then your block is in tact. u can probably guess that right away. liek the others said your rods are f'd most likely. You cant drive around liek that.. you risk damaging more of the motor if you keep going on liek that. or jus getting stuck on the road
