Fix car or CBR 600RR?
Some two years ago, my girl ram my car into a pole.
As a brokeass student, I fixed it by myself. I replaced the radiator support, radiator, headlights, fender, hood, etc. But the thing is, the frame is still bent.
The car still rides good, and now that i have about $4gs, i'm thinking that i should get the frame fix. On the other hand, i REALLY want a bike, but i'm afraid i might kill myself. I found a used 2005 CBR 600RR for around 4 grand.
It would also take about 3-4 grand to get the car fixed.
So what do you guys think? Fix up the car, or ride till i die? Would greatly appriciate your opinion.

Selling the civic would be like selling my own child!! I love my car.
With a bent frame, the dealer is gonna rape me on the trade in cost. But even If i do sell the car, i cannot afford to make payments on a new one. Tuition is running me $30 grand a year and i owed almost 100 grand in college loans. At least this is my last year. Yeah, so 4 grand is all i have, and all i'm going to spend. So back to the original question.

04 civc. Paid off 2 years ago. All i have on it are progress coilovers, and sound system, other than that, it's basically stock. The car looks wierd cause the front bumper doesn't fit right because of the frame. Any of you know what's the run on insurance for a bike?
You mentioned that you are a "broke college student". Buying a $4,000 bike wouldn't be in your best interests. IMO a bike shouldn't be considered a practical mode of transportation. Sure, you can park it easily and weave in and out of traffic, but after riding around on a bike everyday for a while, it gets really old, fast. I know, because I did it for 4 months. A bike should be purchased when you have the disposible income to make that big purchase, (which you certainly don't have now) and it be used only for riding on the weekends or whenever you have free time. I say you get your car fixed right first, finish school, then get your money, and then when you have that extra money to blow, get your dream bike.
Dude, the bent frame is just a battle scar and battle scars give your car more personality. If you want to spend $ on the car, buy a new air freshener for the rearview mirror and bank the money for grad school.

^^ battle scar!! haha nice one. Actually, this is my last year in grad school. No more after that, i'm so sick of school. Actually, Chico did make a good point in saving it for school, but $4g wouldn't even put a dent on the 100grand i owe. I'm going to be making 100 grand after graduation, so i can worry about school loans later.
If i buy the bike, this will be my first one, and if i wreck it, i wouldn't feel as dumb wrecking a 20grand bike. I live in Cali, it's even sunny when it's raining, so riding the bike will be almos a daily thing. Plus 4 of my boys have bikes, i really want to join the group!! lol.

^sounds like you've made up your mind. with the car, you're probably going to get screwed financially either way. If you don't fix it, you'll loose money on the trade in value, but if you do, you'll spend more fixing it than it will add to the trade in. if the car drives straight and passes inspection, get the bike and enjoy it.

My parents "forbid" me to get the bike, but what the hell, i'm a grown man! Thx for the concern though.

Huh...I sold my bike so I could do more stuff to my 'vic!
Normally, I would say don't bother with the bike, it'll get old after awhile BUT you live in Cali, I live in Iowa. With that in mind i'd say go for the bike if you want the bike.
I LOVE how if you have a sportbike you are AUTOMATICALLY going to drive crazy.

GET THE BIKE , ITS WORTH IT . YOU WILL HAVE FUN. THE FELLING YOU GET WHEN YOU ARE RIDING A BIKE IS FAR MORE OF A RUSH THAN DRIVING A CAR. UNLESS YOU A 1,000,000.00 DOLLARS TO SPEND ON A CAR . THE BIKE !!
I bought a ninja about 4 months ago. My buddy has been riding for years , so we became riding partners. He rides a gixer. A dude pulled a left in front of him to pull into a store. There was no stop light when the dude pulled the left, just a left turn lane. He cut off my buddy, and my buddy almost died. He is in rehab now. They are not sure if his left arm and left leg will need amputation. He will never be the same, he will be lucky to have some normalcy in his life. Also, he is anything but a crazy driver.
Needless to say, my bike is up for sale. I wouldn't touch it again. BTW, he is in a similar position to you, a grad student (law).
I am going to stick with my VIC from now on; I suggest you do the same.

I'm sorry for your friend man. Truely hopes that he get better and walk away safely. I always have the thought of crashing on the back of my head. A lot of ppl say it's not the question of "if it happens" but "when it happens", and to some respect, they are right.
But you know what, you can't go living life scared of what the outcome might be, even though it may result in death. People do die in motorcycles, but also in cars, planes, and many other accidents. When it comes down to it, that's what it is...an accident!

As a fellow broke *** college student I feel your pain, I was unable to decide whether to get a GSX-R750 or concentrate on my civic again after a series of mishaps (hail damage, botched "professional installs", etc.) I decided that with the money I have focusing on my car is better for the time being. If you decide to sell try private party(just explain the frame situation!) because dealerships rape you on trades. I am getting the 750 and my dream car a WRX STi as soon as I start my career, and it sounds like you are closer to yours than I am to mine, I would hold off a little longer. Good luck on your decision.
