Steering vibration
Hi everyone. I've got a really weird problem. When i'm on the highway doing about 100km/h my steering wheel starts to shake/vibrate. This started happening a little while ago when I got my brakes done at the dealership. I had the rotors turned and new pads put in. It just started getting a little worse now that I got an alignment done. Does anybody know what could be causing this?
Hey guys. Just got the car back from the dealer. The tires needed balancing. The belt inside the front tires shifted so that was what causing the shaking. They rotated the front tires to the back and used weights to balance them out. Car is back to normal. Thanks guys for giving me your opinions on what was wrong with my car. I guess now I'm going to need new tires.

check your rotors to make sure theyre not warped, then balance the wheels, if that doesnt fix it you got a shitty alignment...
your caster will just make you get horrible treadwear, its not gonna make the steering wheel wobbel, here google's it.

Wheel Alignment or Front end Alignment will not cause a vibration.
hrmm yes your alignment can cause your steering wheel to shake/wobble. i know b.c our mini van hadnt had an alignment done in a long *** time and if i were to go over 60mph it would shake real bad.
my suggestion:
1) check alignment again
2) balance wheel if not already
3) if u have larger than stock wheels and the hub isnt sitting flush against the brake hub(w.e u call it on the car) get hubcentric rings
4) take it bak to the dealership and complain

Zack...
.......w.e. just cant thro to some hard headed people. yes a bad alignment will cause your car to pull if not done right. but if it was done really bad or havent been done in a long time, such as our mini van, it can cause vibration at high speeds.
bad tires/unbalanced, omfg go to a suspension shop right now or tomorrow and ask. or just wiat for boilmaker1 or google yourself and learn something.
this site = down hill with all this stupidity
And since when is knowing actually causes something being "hard headed"
Why don't you get some hard evidence of the alignment making the steering wheel wobble instead of saying "well on my mini van this my mini van that" ? hmm ive posted my info it's there and im sure others will agree with mine

hrmm u havin fun trying to prove your point across? i truly dont care. my advice was given and so was my personal expierence. boilermaker can also come in here and tell me im wrong but i still wont care b.c its his 2 cents and there is no reason for me to go off on it. all i know is that i feel that much better that i helped someone to get their problem solved, thats all.
I'm sorry if i offended you but i like to give people the right answer not the wrong one.

Wow, you guys are really goin at it.
I'm goin to agree with the crazy asian dude about the alignment deal. If your toe is misadjusted you could get a vibration. For instance if your vehicle has too much positive toe, the tires will be pointed inward which will casue the tires to fight against eachother. Same for too much neg. toe. FWD vehicle tend to toe-in while driving. Only in extreme cases will warped rotors cause a vibration. So i'm goin to disagree with the warped rotors causing the vibration. But in this case is sound like it's just a tire/wheel balance issuse.

They probably balanced your tires while they were at it.... If you're getting shaking at high speed, it is more than likely your tires being off balance. Your rotors being warped will NOT cause shaking unless you're applying your brakes. Your alignment will NOT cause your vehicle to shake at high speed. Alignment fixes your steering and tire wear.
