Rear seat belts tension up and lock??? (sedan)

Anyone have problems with their rear seat belts??? Both my rear passenger and my center seat belts are messed... My passengers have been complaining about them. They basically lock up so that you can no longer stretch them out, and if you lean back, it will lock futher into place, so it just gets tighter and tighter.... And when that happens, you hear this reeling sound, as if they're fly fishing in the back.....

Anyone? I gotta bring this piece of crap to the dealer...... I've had so many problems with this damn car, I got a lemon.... both front shocks leaking, broken door thingie (for that little box under the stock CD player), and now this crap......

you dont have a lemon, none of those are serious issues that the dealer cant fix after repeated tries

I finally got my *** into the back of the car and did some fiddling.... I was able to reproduce the 'problem' consistently... If you pull on the seat belts ALL the way until they can go no further, then you're in for it....that's when you get the reeling sound, and the locking of the belts.... I guess the only way to NOT get them to lock up is to know how far to pull. Which is stupid.

so far only a passenger in my passenger seat has mentioned anything. the people in the rear don't seem to be complaining, yet... hehehe... anyways it's not much of a problem... little bit of a nuisance from time to time, though.

NO it's not stupid. They should only lock if the belt is pulled completely out and isn't allowed to completely retract. This is for infant and toddler seats. It holds the child's seat tightly. I love them as I use them for my daughter's seat. People shouldn't have any problem unless their gut is so big they have to pull the belt all the way out. You guys really need to read your owner's manual. Not trying to flame in the least, but there is alot of good info in there.

That exact thing happens in my coupe. it should be covered by warranty, but I'm too lazy to go in to drop my car off and have it fixed...

Mbow is exactly correct. It's a safety feature for infant or child car seat. If the seat-belt does not lock after it has been pulled ALL THE WAY, then it's a problem. BTW who pulled their seat belt all the way to buckle up anyway?
