Warranty for emissions issues?

I've read that Honda has a particular warranty in place for emissions issues such as the P0*** codes a check engine light will indicate such as a problem with the O2 sensor. I read on another Honda site for instance that they have a warranty such as this for the S2000 that goes up to 80K, and 6th gen civics were somewhere around 100K but I couldn't find any information on the 7th gen civics. So Honda would be responsible for fixing this problem, for example I have a P0135 code that is coming up for an O2 sensor heater circuit malfunction. Anyone heard of this kind of special warranty and what the mileage is for it? I have an '04 EX with 42K

basically a stock honda comes with a 3 year/ 36,000 mile warranty which covers everything. after that you are responsible. Now I do believe honda also has an emissions warranty that is 8 years/ 80,ooo miles that covers any emission related component. your best bet is to call honda and ask. now if you do have any extended warranty, it should cover it.

here's what I found, looks like you were correct:

Emissions Warranty (years/miles) =
Federal: 3/36,000 and:
8/80,000 (specified major emission control components)
California: 3/50,000 and:
7 /70,000 (specified high cost emission control components)
15/150,000 PZEV*(CA, NY, ME, VT, MA, CT

The question is, what is considered a "specified major emission control component." Would an O2 sensor fit into this category? Because I am beyond the standard 36K warranty, and I don't have extended. I'm going to call tomorrow, I'll let you know what they say.

It basically means stuff like the cat, the evap system, etc... that cost lots of money are covered. As stingy as Honda is, a $50 o2 sensor is unlikely to be covered.

I agree. I don't think O2 sensors fall under the extended emissions warranty.
