Something just fell off my civic.

The other night i was about to go driving, but when i turned on my car it made this terrible screeching/scratching sound. Well, i just went outside with my dad and to see if he could diagnose the problem. well, i get in the car and give it some gas and my dad says to stop because sparks start flying. well, we find this lying on the inside of my bumper.

we found out where we think it goes, on the outside of a pulley. Can we just bolt it back on (assuming that's where it goes) and if we did (and got it torqued on properly) would that be fine for me to drive back to washington (from houston)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

a.c

Man im not for sure but it looks like it came off your a.c. conpressor! Its hold your pulley on! Thats freakin crazy but if you just put it back on then it should be fine. I just dont understand where the sparking came from that he saw when your hood was up cause its at the bottom. If your look its on the driver side you can look from the front of the wheel underneath and see it

that is your ac compressor clutch. what you need to do is there is a nut that holds it on. but you need to make sure the shim and snap ring are still holding the pulley on. if the snap ring is there, try and find the shim. the shim corrects the gap so when the ac engages, the clutch will turn with the pulley.

Mine just did this too.

What did you end up doing to fix the problem?

Has anyone else had this problem?
