thats kinda soon for an 05 to be having an issue with the o2 sensor i would look at the wires running to the sensors and verify they haven't been damaged or if he has gutted his cat or made any "radical" modification to the exhaust system he could be getting a reading from the cat bringing up this trouble code

X2

An '05 shouldn't need a new 02 sensor yet. Has he used any fuel treatments or burning oil?

i dont think he has made an mods to his car but i know one of his cylinders was misfiring a few months ago when he went for a vacation. he had to drive on 3 cylinders on his drive back before he could get that fixed.

but yeah i agree - an 05 vic should not be giving him these issues.

for those of you who are saying its an 05, it shouldnt need a new sensor yet. It doesnt matter how old the car is, parts fail at any time. I had to replace an evaporator in a 07 vehicle with 191 miles because it was leaking.

I just replaced a suspension compressor yesterday on a 07 with 800 miles cause it was shot.

I see cars everyday come in with very few miles and brand new with problems.

now if its an 05 it should be covered under warranty.

That misfire contaminated the O2 sensor which explains the early failure. He's very lucky that he didn't destroy the cat convertor too.

Oxygen sensors don't just fail, there has to be a reason. I'm sure theres a few very rare cases where they do just go bad, but i doubt that this is one of them.
