Accidentally Redlined in 2nd (Auto)

Okay so technically I'm not a noob, and I did use the search function but could not find anything useful. I've got an 05 Auto EX. I was driving in traffic and I put it into 2nd while moving to get ahead of another vehicle because this truck would not let me in and someone was riding my bumper. I know it should only really be used to start in (slippery surfaces etc. i know). But I was focused in on traffic and I accidentaly redlined it for 5-8 seconds. I got off the next ramp and I did not notice anything about my tranny or engine acting differently. I babied it thereafter and let it cool down driving around some at low rpms because I'd been stop and go in traffic etc. So is there anything I should look out for telltale signs noises that may arise? And what problems do you think could arise if any? Thanks guys.

You have nothing to worry about. Incidents like this are why we have rev limiters on our cars. Was it good for the car?? No. Is it going to hurt it?? Also no. Just don't make a habit of redlining the car. That may eventually cause problems, tho there are some guys on here that like to drive like tools and probably do similar things to their cars daily. It's a Honda, it can take it, at least for a while.

Thanks. I was just concerned because I have almost 60K mi. on the car and I know our transmissions don't hold up very well with stress.

listen carefully to the engine. you'll start to hear whirring noises or little whining when the car revs up. the most noticeable is probably when the gears start to slip so your good for now. those were some of the signs i had before mine blew.

With proper maintenance, and fluid changes, the transmission should hold up for at least 100k. Especially if you treat the car well, which it sounds like you do.

I agree with snapz, thats why they put the rev limiter on there and it did its job! you would already know if you messed up your tranny. Your good man.
