uphill and rolling back..

Well I got this problem and i'm hoping u guys could help.

It's simple really: I don't roll back as much as I use to.

Maybe its not such a bad thing. I kinda think it an axle thing. what do you guys think? And I kinda think its hindering my speed, mpg, etc...

also when I first got my car, the handbrake would lock the back really well when it was pulled just half way, now I have to pull it all the way back to have it secure. oh and NOW if I have it pulled half way I can still be able to push the car..

for the brake.. congrats you use yer brake a lot.. so much infact that you have stretched the cable... i dont trust you to fix this so pay yer mechanic like $30 or whatever to adjust it for you...

as for the rolling back... i dont know what the hell you are talking about... i just read this aloud to my gf... shes not really sure what the hell you are talking about either... but our guess is yer talking about hillstarts.. aka stoped on a hill then starting again with a stickshift....
rolling back is a bad thing for a few reasons.. congrats on not doing it anymore...

automatic or stick. for # 1

Could be sticky pads. The pads on my car like to not pull off as much as they should.

#3, its manual.

to the second post, yah hillstarts sound like a good word. But i've watched another civic before on the same street as I was. The street wasn't even very uphill but he still managed to roll back. I released my brakes to see if I would roll back but I would just stay there. So thats when I started thinking it could be an axle problem. sure its great i dont roll back as much, but I wonder if I lose speed and miles to the gallon on my daily driving.

These both may be the same problem. Your parking brake cable needs to be adjusted. With the cable not correct, the rear brake shoes may not be pulling off the drum. Have both adjusted. With the shoes not pulling off, you are essentially lightly braking all the time, therefore reduced gas mileage and unneccesary wear of the shoes. Here is a DIY for the pb adjustment.
