Car shuts off then turns back on while driving

Ok so the other day I had an issue with the car shutting off and then immediately restarting while driving. Literally the car lost all power, radio shut off, tach dropped to zero, then the car would come back on and car would just keep going. It happened twice on my way to class. No biggie. I checked things out underhood and didn't see anything. Rest of the weekend car didn't do it again so I thought it might have been a fluke. Well today it happened probably 10 times on my way home from class. Any clue on what to look at?

wow, the software on the ecu might need to be updated take it to the dealer.

There is an issue with the car stalling regarding a software issue.

Here are some honda civic service bulletins: http://www.geocities.com/pfeifferperformance/TSBs.html

That's the thing... it restarts without anything... it's only off for an instant, and then kicks back on by itself.

no i dont think its shutting off like the engine powers off. its just the electrical part of it. how the hell would your motor turn off and turn back on while driving? not gonna happen. it sounds like an electrical problem, check fuses, how old is the battery/have that tested for starters.

hmmm ...

Can be something wrong with ur AF sensor ... which causes the FUEL CUTOFF ...

Theres no way an engine TURNS OFF and TURNS BACK ON just like that ...

I have an aftermarket Intake [AEM V2] but the exhuast is stock ... as soon as i reach a 110mph my fuel cuts off ...

So im guessing that either u have a an aftermarket Intake and probably theres a prob. with the A/F sensor... chk if its plugged in ... Rather than that ... Take it to a deler if its doing it at slower speeds coz thats very dangerous !!!

I had a similar problem years ago in my 92 accord. It is scary too!!! Check your wires going to the ecu, there is one screwed up or ecu is f***ed up!! Get it fixed you dont want to loose power and crash or something

i had the same problem, i found out that honda had not tighted my battery cables completly after they worked on it. Let me guess the engine kinda sputters and sounds like it dies, all electrical turns off and then it all comes back. Thats exactly what mine did and i cleaned the battery posts and tightened it up and hasnt happened since.
