Engine Troubles???
Engine Troubles???
I have a 2001 auto trans civic (2 dr) with 190,000 km on it (yes, that is a freakin' lot).
For quite a while now I have been noticing the following, most of which only occurs prior to the engine reaching normal operating temperature (i.e. cold).
1. rapid chatter or popping sound heard when car is moving under its own power. Goes away when accelerating.
2. rapid chatter or popping sound heard when coming to complete stop. Usually followed by vibration for 2-3 seconds and then goes away (possible torque converter lock-up issue perhaps?)
3. clunk or pop heard when releasing foot off of the gas pedal (sounds like something closing).
All of these seem to go away after 3-5 minutes of driving from a cold start. Anyone have suggestions for possible things I should get a mechanic to check for?
