HELP NEED a D17 engine

i dont know how it happened, but my main bearning got ****ed up. My car is currently at the dealers and the insurance company for the extended warranty for my car have so far decline to pay for the damages. They are still reviewing my car, but so far they said it was due to running the car without oil and the mods ive done to it which is bullshit because it had plenty of oil in it when it broke down and i converted everything in my engine back to stock before i went to the dealers. So now im lookin for a d17 engine or block and was wondering if anyone knows any sites where i might purchase one. And yes i am also goin to check my local junkyards, but i just want to see which one has the better prices. thanks

hey, you wanna know somthing funny, Mine just did the same thing. How many miles are on yours? Ihave only 40,000 miles. Every oil change has been done on time, even with syntec oil. I have found 2 places. There is a company here in modesto that has lx engines under 40,000 for 375.81. thats with tax and ex engines 2002 year, for 424.13
All you really need to do is , pull the engine, get it to bare block, take it to a machine shop and have them polish the crank and reinstall new bearings. Then reinstall the engine.

Attaro Engines
http://www.attarco.com/
The 2 I looked at today were from wrecked cars.
Hope this helps.

By the way, buy an oil pressure gauge. I have watched mine for a while now, the problem is as the bearing start to wear, the oil pressure will drop. You will have normal pressure when you start the car and while your driving, but at idle you will be below 10 psi. 10 psi is min spec for a d17a. I dont care what anyone else says. I have swapped oil pump, oil pick up, syntec oil, normal oil, thicker oil. Its the bearings. I parked mine before it got any worse. Hope his helps also.
