Unhappy My car is NOT WORKING!! HELP!

Everytime I hit the gas the RPM needles jump really high but my car would only go like 5-10 mph... I only have an AEM short ram intake installed in the engine and nothin else. The light engine lit up too. I have no idea what it might be. If you have ANY advice or knowledge on my situation please reply. Thanks

to start things off, find out why the check engine light is on. go to an autozone and have them tell you the code and then let us know.

Start by checking if you left a ground or other wire loose after you modified your car. If that's allright, get the code read.

I went to my car today because i had left it in the city last night and just got a ride from my friend. I began drivin it home with my dad leadin the way in his car. My car could only reach 20mph tops. After like 5 min of driving, we pulled into a store and decided to see if we could do anything about it. My dad checked the transmission oil and saw that it was really low. I ran to a near by chevron and purchased some. After we put this in the engine light turned off; however, the car did not run at all. The car turned on and reversed but didn't move forward at all. I had it towed to my house and am clueless to what the problem is. My dad checked for the code and told me but i already forgot what it is > (i will post it tom). i dont know jack about cars and im just hoping that somebody can help out. thanks

well find out what the code is and let us know. it may be a simple sensor failure.

The code is PO-730...

how much would sensor failure cost to fix?

well P0730 is a automatic tranny code for the shift control system. I hate to tell you this, you have 2 options. 1st is you can replace either the shift solenoid valve A and B, the AT clutch pressure control solendoid valve A and B, or replace the transmission.

The other option is to take it to a tranny shop or the dealer and have them diagnose the problem. the first thing it tells you to do with this code is first see if another code is present. If not to measure each clutch pressure. And if those are not ok, to repair the hydraulic system. if they are ok, you have to replace those solenoid valves and if the code is still there, replace the tranny.

its really something I would take to a shop if I were you. A reputable one for that matter.

How did this problem come about though? What causes this... Did i hit a bump? Not take care of engine? Transmission flush not done? etc. THanks again for all the help so far.

it all depends. it could be as simple as a failure of the solenoid valves that I mentioned. Electrical components failure without warning. you may also have a hydraulic leak somewhere in the tranny. who knows. you can try and replace those solenoid valves as it may repair the problem. If not, then you should look toward a new tranny or possibly having a shop see what the problem is.

possibly find out if any other codes came up with this one.
