Exclamation synchro replacement?

Hey everyone, I've done some searching and from some of the other posts I have determined that the 3rd gear synchro is going bad in my car. What I'm not sure of, is if the synchro itself is located in the gearbox, or in the transmission. Is it something I can replace myself so my transmission doesnt grind when I put it in third? Thanks in advance for the help.

theres no noise in the clutch when it grinds, and if i wait a second or two before shifting into 3rd, it doesnt grind. thats what makes me believe its the synchro.

YA you put it where you would add tranny fluid.

You have no idea of the troubles I have had with my tranny!

3 clutches & 1 tranny almost dead.

But Iv had some great times with the car!

I wouldnt trade for anything! Its a great base for learning!

its by penzoil in a yellow bottle, its called syncro mesh...and at autozone its $6. Apparently you drain your transmission fluid and replace it with the syncro mesh. look in the autoparts store near the gear lube, its in the same kind of bottle. I havent bought it yet but I plan to try it this weekend.
