Wheel Sounds

I recently took a trip back home to Chicago and on my way back to Kentucky, I noticed a noise coming from my front passenger wheel. It almost sounded like something was scraping my rotor. When I tapped the brake, the sound would go away. It kinda comes and goes. I was backing out of my parking spot this morning on my way to work, there was this whining noise that sounded horrible and the scraping noise was back again. But like I said, when my brake is applied, the sound goes away.

What could cause that? Looses brake pad? Something got stuck behind my wheel? I am going to Honda after work to have them take a look at it to see what is up with it.

I hope someone out there can help me out with this issue because I am flippin out over this!!!!!

Thanks!

Could it be a wheel bearing?

Yeah, I hope someone can help you out cuz I got the same problem... on the highway it becomes really high pitched. I took off the wheel and the sound seems to be coming from the caliper when u spin the rotor. Maybe we should change our brake pads...? Anyway, we should do something fast b/c I noticed a bunch of tiny marks on the inside of my rim... I think bits of metal are flaking off and marking up my rim. Please help us...

5 speed or Auto?

I would think its a bearing...

I used to have sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh h h h h h sound coming from my front right wheel.

It ended up being the "pilot bearing" in my clutch.

changed the clutch & BAM no noise...

Also it couldnt hurt to go to "break masters" & have them glance at it...

Could be as simple as bad pads...

good luck!

it sounds like you guys got a bad wheel bearing. this happens and when you get to much play from it it moves the hub assembly(makes it wobble when you go forward).

to try and see if it is the bearing, lift the front wheels with a floor jack. and take the wheel with both hands, one on the 12 o'clock position and another on the 6 o'clock position and try and move the wheel up and down. if you feel some play in it then it is your wheel bearings that may need to be replaced. or it can also be your hub assemble that may need to be replaced also.

i encountered this prolblem while i was out road testing a customers car(a svt focus, yea i am a ford tech) and same exact thing happened in that car that youg ugys are descirbing.

so check that out and lemme know.

mine did the same thing. It was the inner brake pad completely worn down. ALl the other pads were fine.
