Low beams quit working

I have an 02 EX coupe, and my low beams just quit working yesterday. SO i did a search and found that there is a recall on the 02's for this problem. I have blacked out my headlights are they going to tell me that it's my fault. Also could it possibly just be a fuse? Thanks for any help. I know it's a pretty noob question just looking for some info.

If you haven't checked the fuses yet, do that first. If that's not the prob, honda would have a very difficult time telling you it's your fault if there's already a recall for this problem. You should be fine. But check the fuses first, my guess is that's what it is.

I would think that they could enter the VIN to see if the recall had been performed on yours. The recall mentions some 02 models as well.

The headlights are fused separate (except for the main fuse)

its the whole switch, and possibly melted wires. but i'm afraid for you with those black out headlights. they're gonna make up some retarded excuse. just make sure you have stock clear bulbs. if that doesn't work goto the news and tell them the dealership wont fix a safety hazard recall. they'll be all over it.

They have to do the service since it is a National recall. They will replace the switch, repair the burnt wires, if any, and likely it will be fixed.

#15 #17 in under hood box both = 20 amps. Not likely the problem though, They would both have to be blown. 2 blown bulbs IS a possibility.

could it be the bulbs even though the high beams are working. I checked the fuses under the hood, and they are fine. and when i too the passenger side bulb out it appears to possibly be blown, still don't understand how the high beams were working if the bulb was blown. How does that happen?

the H4 bulb for 01-03 civics have a dual filament. so its possible for the lo beam to burn while the hibeam to stay working. its essentially two bulbs combined into one. and the lo beam would be affected by the recall problem since its connected to the wiring. did you try replacing the bulb? if it doesn't light up at all or dies a couple months later, the combo switch is burnt.

yeah it was the bulbs they are on now. I didn't realize aobut the dual filament. I was like if the lows are working y aren't the highs. This answers that question. And I don't think it is the recall issue because I did black the headlights the other day, and I'm pretty sure the girlfriend was looking and "touching" things. So i bet she touched the bulb, and we all know what that does. ****ing women. J/k to any woman who may happen to read this because if your a woman and on this site ur cool in my book. Peace I'm out thanks for the help.

well bulbs do burn out, just make sure you check the bulb first before they laugh at you for coming in with blown bulbs.
