205/40/17 becareful!!

i was driving around like i normally do...until i notice my engine sould a little loud...so i brought it to the dealer....and they told me i have the wrong tire on my car and the wheel are spinning to fast which cause some defect to the engine ...i dunno ...to me it all bull .....but he told me that if i don't get the right tire for it which is 205/45/17...they have to void my warrenty......they told me a year from now ...if i' keep those tire on it....my transmission going to go and i would have racked up hundred of mile because my wheels are spinning to fast ....i dunno...so the tire shop going to replace them for me..(lucky) i just have to pay for the difference in price....so be careful...i dunno if this is bull or not

Whoa that sucks.... I would have never thought of that but I guess that is true that they spin faster which obviously means its like basically doubling the mileage

Your dealership SUCKS....They're not gonna fix anything if you mod your car.......If anything breaks you better take it back bone stock.....
and yes,,,it would make the miles go up faster,,,but should not affect the tranny or anything else(but speedo) at all....
good luck

i read some place that if you mod your car the dealership
will still fix your car under warrenty except if the mod is
what is causing the problem. i'll try to find the article and
post it here.

it is true that the tire size will effect the speedometer and odometer, but as far as messing up the tranny, no way. I personally am going with the 215/45/17 anyway, but only because I like them better than the lower profile 205/40/17.

what you need to do is find some one who can change the setting in your ecu so it can correct your tire size. i think hondata makes some thing like that for my car but i dont know about the ulev cars

thats bs

if your tires are small and your speedo is off by 5mph at 50 mph, then your car is going 50mph but your speedo indicates 55 and your transmission is moving as fast as it would be at 55mph.... its not like its spinning at 200mph in the transmission

I hate dealerships....they're just out to screw you.

I took my car in because there is a ticking sound in the engine at high rpms and they started giving me bullsh!t like "why are you driving like that?" WTF!?! Firstly, its a 115 HP car that has its max rpms at 6100 rpms....if i cant bring my car up to 6100 rpms, they shouldn't f*cking advertise it as a 115 horsepower car. Secondly, ITS AN AUTOMATIC! If the thing is waiting too long to shift into the next gear thats their OWN damn engineering problem. I told them that too. So then the f*cker took it on a test-drive and wouldnt even press the gas hard enough to make it make the sound, and i had to leave without getting it fixed. Thankfully we have 3 dealerships in my city though....

And that btw, there is no possible way your tires are spinning twice as fast...take it back and call them out on it....

Why would having 205/40/17 tires make your miles go up faster? If anything, with a bigger tire you would think it would make it go slower. I dont know. I dont want to make my miles go faster because I drive long distances as it is.

And on top of that, I have yet to see if my dealership will tell my why my "check engine" light is on without tieing the problem into ny intake.

I got similarly facked not by the dealer, but by Honda Care. My tranny on my 99 DX needed a rebuild (bearings and a shift fork) after about 40k miles.

An adjuster from Honda Care came out to see if they would cover it under warranty. His final verdict was to deny coverage. His reason: "When you lowered your car it changed the angle of the axles and that put stress on the tranny."

Uh. Bullshit! That's what f*cking UV joints are for you redneck retard.

I doubt I'll buy the extended warranty on my next car. Once you mod it they'll find any excuse to deny coverage.

My Ride. R.I.P.

Ummm, ok yes the dealer is right, your odo and spedo will be off, but they CAN recalibrate that for you. but to burn out your tranny??? thats BS and you are still covered by warrenty. solution? goto another dealership and get it resolved there.

Yah, you dealer is big time BS'ing you. The tires that you have won't make your speedometer off by that much at all. With stock EX tires (185/65/15) it travels 76.23inches per revolution. Your 205/45/17's travel 76.87inches per revolution. So in one mile you new tire turns 7less times per mile! Which is 44ft. So at 4,500RPM on stock 185/65/15's you are going 96.54MPH and on your 205/45/17's @4,500 RPM you are going 95.73MPH. A difference of less than 1% (0.84% to be exact). Tell that mechanic he's a moron and doesn't know what he's talking about. So basically you are off by less than 1mph @ 95mph.
