Do I need to use only Honda sparkplugs?

Dealer says ONLY Honda sparkplugs are OK for my 2001 Civix EX...is this bogus? I was told that about 2 years ago, and I ended up going to the store and pikig up some platinum plugs at $4 apiece, vice the $25 the dealership quoted...any ideas? timfox42@***.net

As long as they are the right spec and type the aftermarket ones should be fine. I really believe Honda just puts that tag on MOST things so they can increase sales.

The honda ones may be iridium, but as far as I'm concerned, if they're the right heat range and gap, a spark plug is a spark plug. Just change them on whatever interval is right for the given plug.
As far as I'm concerned, the only 2 fluids that MUST be honda genuine fluid is the tranny fluid and the PS fluid.
