Rep Power: 292 Help me find a new tranny please!!
Hello guys, unfortunately my transmission has gone out at 74k miles, but I have a few questions I need answered.
Does anyone know of a web site that I can get a used transmission for cheap? I have a 2001 right now, on my second one.
I'm trying to get one from a later year. Is there a cutoff point where the trannys got better for 7th gens? I'm trying to get either a 2003 or 2004.
Any advice will help, thanks.

Rep Power: 0 You must love your car. I would have sold mine after the first one. I got a price from a local place to do mine IF it should go and it was $1500. I would call all the salvage yards and see who has the best price. Interested in seeing what the members here say is a good year trans.
Will the earlier years bolt in?

Rep Power: 292 I need an automatic. my first one cost $550 off ebay, $100 shipping, $400 install, so $1050 total which was not that bad.
Now I only see on ebay $900 trannies +300 shipping, and then the 400 labor.

Ya, get an 04 or 05 tranny, haven't heard of any issues with them. That's why it's best to always get a model after it's been in production for a couple years. i.e, stay away from an 06 civic.
Actually aside from this forum, never heard of any 7th generation civic tranny issues at all.

Rep Power: 0 When I was pricing transmissions, it supposedly makes a difference what year, what country it's built in and what model it is and wether it's a V-TEC or not.
I'm not sure if it REALLY makes a difference, but according to the books thats how it goes.
Check out that link above, you'll see what I mean. There are like 4 auto's listed for one year.
