Trouble installing speakers - door panel does not snap shut

I'm driving a 2005 Civic EX Sedan and I just bought infinity reference 6012si speakers from Crutchfield and they sent me a speaker adaptor bracket to give me enough clearance but the speakers do not fit directly into the bracket. Instead I need to use the mounting ring included with the speakers to go in between the bracket and speaker.... everything fits wonderfully, but unfortunately when I tried to snap the door panel back on the clips near the speaker do not snap shut! It appears the area near the speaker juts out just a little too much.

Called the Crutchfield guys and they aren't sure... so they're sending me a plastic spacer and they're saying it'll hopefully give me enough clearance without the speaker adaptor bracket. I'm just wondering why the original speaker adaptor bracket they sent me doesn't work. Does anyone else have this problem?

Thanks!

Otherwise the speakers sound awesome in my car with the new alpine 9851 HU.

Hey, all -

No worries about replying. Crutchfield sent me the right spacer kit (SAH6) but it's just that the Infinity 6012si needs the mounting bracket in between so it adds overall depth and doesn't fit... This weekend I'll either trim the plastic on the door panel or I'll take the spacer to a hardware store and have them cut it down.

Just hoping that having the panel not fit right and closing the door doesn't damage the speaker (although it still sounds awesome).

Thanks.
