AC Not Functioning

Hey all...

My 01 Civic is at 70k miles and I recharged the AC yesterday. The compressor kicks in but it wont blow out any cold air.

Any idea of what the possible problem is?

why did you recharge the AC in the first place? was the AC not working to begin with?

if it wasnt, you need to find out why, if there was a mechanical problem and still a normal charge of refirgerant, adding more will just overcharge the system and either way it still wont work.

Need some more details on what the beginning issue was.

I noticed the ac not working a while ago but since it was winter I didn't really get on to fixing it. I had a guy vacuum out the system and fill it up to specs. It is filled completely but when I push the AC button I feel the compressor start but no cold air. The heater still works and I still get air but it is not refrigerated.

So I am guessing the best thing would be to take it to a local mechanic to have him look at it...How much would this valve cost?

It could even be the switch for the a/c mine resently went bad and i had to rewire my own switch. It sounds like the exact same thing that happened to mine.

take it to a shop and have them hook up a set of gauges to see what the pressures are. And have them figure out what the problem is.

^^^ Yeah and don't ever try to add coolant if you do not know what the problem is.

My AC light stays on, so I assume the AC is always on. I think it's on b/c the mileage is not a sweet as my research indicated. Michalo, how did you rewire it? I haven't done anything like that, so should I have a mechanic do it?
