misaligned trunk lid?
First the good news: Just got the car back from the dealer. They solved several rattles, and finally got the driver's seat to stop rocking completely (still some play in the seat back, but now it is as tight as it should be). This was the third try, and they finally got it!
Now I'm noticing that the trunk lid does not align just right. Standing at the back of the car, the problem is at the left side where the two red lenses should line up across the top fo the trunk. The lens on the lid is 1/4" lower than the lens on the non-moving outboard light. The right side is perfectly flush. This is about the worst alignment I've seen on a Honda. It would be considered normal on a domestic car, I'm sure.
Anybody else notice this, or is it just my car being weird again?
Thanks,
Darell

Well first I would check and make sure if the trunk had been removed for some strange reason by looking at the bolts and seeing if they had been turned or not (they'll be chipped if they have). If not, hopefully your car is still under 12k and/or is under 1 year of age. Honda only covers up too 12k/12months for poor worksmanship. So check it out.

Hmm. Hadn't heard of that limitation. I'm over by several months. But my service manager seems to want me to be happy, so I'll have him check it out. Doesn't appear that the trunk has been touched. For the life of me I can't figure out how the misalignment can happen on just my car. Nothing seems bent, or out of place anywhere else, so I can't imagine what could be adjusted to bring it back into line. Thanks for the reply.

Well, I figured out the problem, and I guess I'll take care of it myself. The outboard lens assembly is mounted too high (I finally realized there is a 1/4 gap under it, and the one on the other side is slammed down tight to the sheetmetal. Should be easy enough. So, it isn't the trunk, it was just that the lens on the trunk didn't line up with the lens on the fixed part of the trunk.
Problem solved.

I fixed it last night. The mounting holes for all the lenses have a bit of play (on purpose I'm sure - to allow for adjustment). Mine were just installed poorly. It was very simple to fix with an 8mm wrench and a little shove. Saved a trip to the dealer anyway. It was a small thing, but it started to really bug me.
