When you start driving push on the glove compartment. Sometimes this puppy will rattle and annoy the hell out of you. Have a friend sit in the passenger seat and try to pin point it!

If you search for "rattles" in this forum, you will find many DIY's on fixing them. Might save yourself a trip to the dealer.

i too have several rattles whenever i have the radio on or i go over lil holes on the ground...one is from the glove compartment and the other is from the passenger side door...from the inside...seems that the latch isn't properly latched on to whereever its suppose to connect but the rattling is still there....

I notice the same thing. It seems to be the door locks for me. Whenever I have the radio on and the bass is up I hear the rattle. Then I lock my doors and the noise goes away. It's a little annoying. I'll probably get an alarm that automatically locks the doors when the engine is on and automatically unlocks them when the engine goes off. Hope this helps.

Wait a minute, don't all the 7th gen Civics with power locks do this already? I know it does on my EX.

Yes I have power locks but the alarm will prevent me from doing the job manually. Plus the assed security of an alarm.

I have a 2001 EX, and it does NOT automatically unlock when shut down. Should it?

Sorry guys, my mistake... yes, you are correct, our cars do NOT automatically lock and unlock when the engine is started and stopped. Mine does this cuz the shop that installed my Viper alarm programmed it for me, and I didn't even ask for it (they did a fantastic job overall, btw). I totally forgot about this and I was so used to it, that I thought it was a standard feature of our cars.

But ya, Joe6680, try to get this lock/unlock feature when you install your alarm... it's super convenient, and safe too, cuz I usually forget to lock my doors when I start the car and drive off. Helps to prevent car-jackings ...
