front wheel hub & bearing

Would you guys in a used hub and bearing? I'm not sure if the hub is any good or not, and I want to do it myself. I got a quote of $85 for a used front hub with bearing. sound like a good deal?

I wouldnt. just because it could be a damaged bearing and you wont know untill its installed on the car. It may sound fine just free spinning buts once on the car may sound worse or make weird sounds. Now buying a used hub is a different story. Just buy a new one assembly, it is around $80-$90

yeah, well the hub is 85 new and the bearing is about 60 new. The issue is having a shop press the stuff in for me, I'd rather do it myself. The other issue is I just got it aligned last week and If I do the bearing, it needs to get realigned -

As an example at our shop we can change the bearing on the car with out having to remove the knuckle so a wheel alignment wouldn't be needed afterwards. That price on the bearing sounds kind of high. as i recall the last BRAND new Knuckle i bought from honda for an em2 was only about $100 and that includes a new wheel bearing pre-installed, minus a hub. so i would shop around for a bearing as for price to install we charge $51 as i recall. But we dont allow customer supplied parts thou

oh, and stay away from used bearings, but if the hub is bad there is nothing wrong with a used hub if its in good condition

^ how's that done on the car? the book calls for the bottom two strut bolts to come out? and how did you get the parts from honda already pressed? I have a feeling the hub is no good. If i could buy brand new parts from honda with hub and bearing already pressed in, I would

That's a sweet tool, too bad I'd never use it again, so I'll probably just
pay someone to do it for me

The bearing is diff for a 01 ex sedan, like 59$ I think

^ anyways....

I found an 02 ex sedan w/ 50K miles on it, I'm getting the entire assembly w/ lugs, knuckle, hub and bearing for $75. I'm gonna do it this weekend
and get the biatch realigned this week - just gotta roll those fenders and i'll be good to go w/ my 17's

yeah, well a few hours later and three trips to the auto parts store, I've got two new rotors, new brake pads, (all of which I had no idea were bad),
and a used knuckle assembly installed. the most difficult part was getting the assembly on the axle shaft, the "used" replacement was a bit rusty on the splines and it was a bitch to get it on far enough to thread the castle nut on to pull it the rest of the way......nice and smooth riding now though.

I wish all our members had half a brain and were willing to turn a wrench. They would save themselves a lot of money. Good job.
