2003 Honda Civic is throwing a code - P1298

The car is bone stock with 60xxx miles on it.

So far I found - P1298 High Voltage In ELD Circuit

Anyone know what the problem is? Its a 2003 Civic, when driving the car it feels like the car is missing every few mins. Could it be the alternator going bad?

I also found this and I hope it's not the problem - well I can't post the url to the article becuase I'm new and don't have 15+ posts, but it talks about the alternator and the ELD circuit -

If voltage on the green/red wire doesn't drop when you turn on the headlights, the ELD has failed. Fixing it requires replacing the main fuse box. A hard ELD failure should set OBI) II code P1297 or P1298.

How hard is it to replace the entire fuse box?!?

you only need to replace the eld located in the fuse box.

Have you had a meter on it to monitor actual voltage ?? The voltage jumps around a lot. I would say 14.3-14.5 volts would be max.

The battery would have SOMEWHAT of a regulating property, but the regulator and the ELD would do the most work.

its a manufacture code.... the first digit is either going to be 1 or 0 if its a one its a manufacture code and if its 0 then its a genic code.... sorry to say but your going to have to bring it back to factory to get it checked out.

if the first number of the code is a 1 just look up the Honda specific codes which are stickied on here. no need to take it to the dealer.
