Anyway I can take the key out without in parking gear in an auto?
I have an auto and my parking gear is ****ed. It doesn't want to go into it. So the only way I can start up my car is in Neutral but when I want to take the key out I can't. Somehow this is draining the battery in my car. Is there anyway I can take the key out in an auto?

there is a small tab that you can pry off with a screwdriver on the shifter and stick a key in to resease the ignition (assuming you have another key)

You're running a risk of having your car roll away on you when you're not around. So yes. Get your parking gear/linkage fixed. The battery is running down because the multiplex control system doesn't go into sleep mode with a key in the ignition. It draws much more power with a key in the ignition.

Hi guys
Sorry this might be a bit out of the subject, but my wife has tried to remove the key while not in park several times yesterday and now the car won't start. I was surprised to see the remote could not open the doors and the CD was out of the stereo when I came to the car this morning. Now there is no immobaliser green light on panel at all (no flashing, no nothing). I check the battery and it seems ok. When I turn the switch to II the lights on the instrument come on, the starter motor doesn't start at all and the stereo doesn't work either. I can hear a weird noise coming from behind the stereo. Please help, is there anything I can do?
Thanks

Classic signs of a bad MCU (Multiplex Control Unit). See if it will give you codes, just about every auto parts store will scan it for free. Download the manual and follow the diagnosis for a bad MCU (or whatever code it gives). If it doesn't give a code then diagnose for a bad MCU.

Hmm, thanks for the reply. I noticed last week that the ABS light and the EBrake light came on together while driving and went off next time I restarted. Could it have been the same problem?
I jumped the car since there was no lights on the instrument panel today and it started, but now it shows ABS and EBrake lights together. Any idea?
