Is your car no longer under warranty? Take it into Honda.

Buying a used 7th gen tranny is just a band aid. Rebuilding with BETTER parts is ideal. BTW, I just bought an 85 Nissan 4X4 with a good 145000 miles on it. Guess what? Shifts perfectly. They sure were built better back then. Now I just have to get the 200 pounds of mud back off the truck....

There is a TSB on this somewhere... (someone please chime in)

There is somthing about 2nd, 3rd, and 5th. I have the same problem. try contacting Honda First. Get a copy of the TSB. Take it to a tranny shop, with the TSB, and get a quote if Honda won't do it.

whats a tsb?

and the same thing is happening to me and i took it around to tranny shops and they said im better off buying a 96-99 d-series tranny and it should mate up to the tranny i have right now because it would be at least $1000-$1200 to rebuild my tranny

A 96-00 tranny will not fit in our cars! The mounts for the tranny are totally different. I just got my tranny rebuilt for $2300 which is really bad. Everything was almost replaced. Goodluck at the junkyards cuz ive tried and outta the 5 shops i went only 1 had it which it was off an 01 with 45kmiles going for $800. These trannys are shitty unless its rebuilt, its not gonna last long if you get a used one. If you plan on keeping this car for a long time i say rebuilt it. Otherwise i would just buy a used tranny and sell pos this car!!!

ok, well i do live in hickville, USA so the tranny shop guys are rednecks and just make stuff up, i sent a letter to honda because along with my transmission, i have 7 other things that are wrong with my car, im thinking it may b a lemon, i dont knnow, so il see what honda has to say, if they say they wont help by grinding tranny wiht 42K on the odometer, il buy a used tranny, swap it in, and sell the car.

I belive the one to cure your problem is TSB#03-009(revised)
You can find it http://www.geocities.com/pfeifferper...ingrevised.pdf there.

And if you want the rest for your car/applicable model, then you can find them HERE

I hope this helps. I know it's in my future too. I have a proplem with grinding, and slipping out of gear.

That kit would be fine, if he needed an overhaul... But he needs some gears and sync's too.

I like the kit though. Fot finding that one.

Maybe your truck's tranny was replaced at some point.

Nope. The engine was

My second, 2wd 85 nissan has 158000 on everything original. I needed a new input shaft bearing, so just had the tranny serviced. It shifted great before, but was noisy. Now it's quiet and shifts like crap. They should have left the original synchros alone.

The 4X4 is fine, though. The drive train apparently outlasted the motor.
