Two Problems: Mirrors and Door Lock
Two Problems: Mirrors and Door Lock
I actually have two small problems with my '02 Civic EX/SI.
1) My drivers door lock will not unlock unless I crank the key really hard and pull up on the handle at the same time. Once I'm in the car, it stays locked and will not unlock or budge until I have been driving for about 10 minutes or it warms up (its winter here). From what I've been reading in the forum here, it sounds like the actuator is either freezing up or slowly dieing. Just looking for help/confirmation.
2) The other problem I have is with my power mirrors. I can move them both side to side but cannot move either up or down at all. Is this a wiring problem or a stripped gear or something?
Thanks.

Is that with both mirrors? If this happen with both mirrors I don't think the problem is with the mirrors themself. Check on the switch maybe for some those parts on the switch are burned;or wires. That happened to 01 civic when I was installing aftermarket mirrors. To yours maybe have some problem like that...
Yes, it is with both mirrors. I finally got a hold of a mechanic friend of mine and he said the same thing about it probably being the switch since its unlikely both mirrors would fail at the same time (and only in the vertical control direction).
As for the driver door lock, he has a hard time believing the actuator is shot since the car is an '02. He agrees that it is a pretty common problem but the previous owner must have been using the door locks like crazy for that to happen.
