Floor Getting Wet? Wtf
Ok at first I just thought some rain got in and got my floor mat wet (driver side). So I took the floormat and let it dry out for like 2 days. During the 2 days, the whole driver's side floor got wet again...What the hell could it be? At first I thought weather stripping, but I can't feel any water comin from there, and my seats or anything else isn't wet, just the floor.

I think there is a hole in your firewall you probably have to get under your car and see where all the wires are going through and then push the rubber stopper back into its hole or seal whatever leaks you find when you're under your car.
I know there is a hole in the firewall on the passenger side and I've heard that there may be one on the driver's side too. There's gotta be something of that sort or else where would your braking mechanism go through?

Take it to the car wash inspect inside while using high pressure rinse, sprayed around the drivers side area. Use a flashlight & see if any is obvious. Has the car ever had a windshield replaced ?? Is it an EX (moonroof) ?

No it's a 02 Civic LX. No sunroof. No it's never had it's windshield replaced.
Nothing else on the car gets wet at all, except the driver's side floor, and you can see where the water stops.

i dont think there is a driver side firewall, although I could be wrong, I know for fact however that the passanger side has one.
However, I drilled a hole on the driver side fender for various reasons and I dont get any leaks... maybe it hasnt rained har d enough here

It was something to do with the hood. They said they replaced the hood something. I didn't think that it made any sense and that they were bs'ing but it was free b/c of warranty. And no more water..
HELP! I have this too
2001 Civic LX coupe (Canadian - no sunroof)
Only my front, drivers carpet is wet... not soaked, but more than damp.
Never had windsheild replaced, never see any leaks when it rains.
I had this issue with my 91, I got on the floor, looked up with a flashlight, and saw that the seal was torn ever slightly on the bottom of the windsheild.
NOT SO EASY ON THIS CAR!
Here are my questions:
1) How the hell do I remove/pull up, not only the carpet on the drivers side, but there seems to be some sort of plastic/rubber divider against the firewall and the carpet.
-2 things hold down the *rest-brick (where you put foot when not on clutch), 1 bolt, and one plastic thingy that looks like it screws out, but doesnt?
2) Coming from outside the car, I can take off the wipers, but once they're off, how do I get the plastic cover off?
-I've pulled on it and got most of the plastic attachers/plugs pulled apart, but I still can't get it off... until I get it off, I can't get a good view of the windsheild seal, or where the water drains off from the windsheild!
Thanks

So I think I figured it out
So I think I figured out why my DRIVERS SIDE FLOOR was wet.
After you've:
- taken out the center console/ kick panel/ door jamb trim/
- removed the front-most seatbelt restraint bolt
- remove the 4 bolts, and 2 electronic plugs (under the seat) that hold the drivers seat in place
- cut the carpet in 2 places: where it connects right in front of the E-brake handle, and where the slit already is tucked under the dash, behind the center console - try to pull it back, and cut where it is attached - it's ok, you won't see it.
Once done, you can pull back the carpet back quite far - far enough to see the floor of the drivers side.
Note: there is a mat of some sort - i believe it to be sound deadining glued to the floor, don't try to pull it up, it WILL BREAK!
...This sound deadining stuff makes it hard to see if there is a hole in the floor - get under the car and look for that.
I found that my leak was coming down from the firewall area so:
-You have to remove that fu*king rubber matting lining the firewall - you don't see it unless you're down there, so go as high as you can and make some cuts.
-pull the staples that hold a seperate peice of rubber matting surrounding the steering coloum, and make a cut to get it from around there.
Note: get some contact cement and duct tape - when you're done and want to put it all back together, you line it up, duct tape it in place, and paint on the contact cement over the tape.
Now that it's all pulled back, go get your hose!
-Spray the car, windsheild, ect. see if you notice any water.
-Spray the wheel well - here is where I got my water from, look in the wheel well, you'll notice that you can see right through to the other side.
-Along the firewall there is a couple of black rubber plugs (one top left near fender, one on floor, one on firewall i think). When I sprayed water in the wheel well, the plug leaked a bit.
Notice that the carpet has some padding and is quite thick, so when it starts to leak you won't notice it right away.
I simply pulled these plugs, put a bead of silicone adhesive around it, then put it back in place.
Leave the carpet up for a day/ use a shop vac to get rid of the water.
Put it all back together, and give it a good int. cleaning.
I hope this works, and hope it answers some questions
