caliper seized....?

i just bought a HC 04 LX from a private owner. The car had been in an accident and was hit on the front drivers side (quarter panal and front was replaced). it was rebuilt and my mechanic said that it looks good and was fixed up great. he didnt say anything or see anyhting wrong with the calipers bout a week ago when he checked but did have flush out and change the break fluid cuz the previous owner put the wrong kind in l. yesterday driving home from picking it up, my caliper seized on the front drivers side. hmmmm so my question is...does anyone think the accident affected this problem or anyone been in this situation, please send me sum input on this problem guys!

The mechanic was the one who determined it b/c when he drove it he said it felt like there was no "go" to the car. He flushed the foreign fluid and put in Dot 3. The guy (previous owner) who put in the foreign fluid could not remember what he put in. Since the calipers locked up could there be something wrong with one of the tubes or hoses... could they be kinked or collapsed???

IF he put in ANY kind of petroleum product, oil, p/s fluid, trans fluid ANY !!!!!!! then ALL RUBBER items in the brake system MUST be replaced. I can NOT stress this enough. Items would include but are NOT limited to ... Master cyl, calipers, wheel cyl's, all rubber hoses any combination valve that there may be(not sure never looked on our cars) and if it were an EX then the ABS valving would need replaced also. Dont let anyone tell you that you can just flush out the system to correct this issue. Once ALL rubber items are removed you must then flush out the steel lines REPEATEDLEY with de-natured alchol and compressed air until you are MORE than confident that all lines are cleaner than clean Then install all new items and bleed and adjust system. Typical NON ABS car runs about $1200-1500 in our shop to fix.

Once again i can not stress how important it is to replace ALL rubber items that brake fluid runs thru if they were contaminated with ANY petroleum product!

yea i have to agree. you have to replace the WHOLE brake system. no joke. all the steel lines, all the rubber parts. the mechanic can rebuild the 4 calipers just in case the other 3 are waitin to seize. welcome to the site. sorry for that idiot who owned the car before you. he don't deserve it.
i repeat, replace whole system. if not, that car is a LEMON go get a refund.
